In 1918, 100 million people died from the swine flu. This number is very disturbing and should not be taken lightly during this flu season. Granted we have better medical technology and have learned a lesson or two from history, but hopefully this virus doesn’t mutate into something worse. So you may be asking if you have come down with the H1N1 virus or are concerned that you will: how do you treat swine flu? Here are some very important ways to treat it when you are starting to experience influenza like symptoms such as coughing, fever and fatigue:
Go see your doctor. Your doctor may prescribe a medication such as Tamiflu.
If your doctor doesn’t prescribe medicine, you may need to take acetaminophen or ibuprofen to control a fever (ask your doctor first).
Get plenty of sleep. A lack of sleep will contribute to a weaker immune system and could keep you sick for a long period of time.
Eat right. Laying off the junk food during this time is a very good idea. Try to include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet. It can be very hard to eat during this time, but if you have a juicer you can juice your fruits and vegetables into extremely healthy yet tasty drinks that are full of antioxidants and disease fighting nutrition.
Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated is extremely important during this time.
You should stay in your house while you have the H1N1. This will help prevent you from spreading the virus to others. You’ll also want to wash your hands often to avoid spreading to those in your house. It’s also a good idea to carry antibacterial gel around with you just in case you need it. Also wipe down surfaces in your house that you come in contact with, with a bacteria killing spray. So if you’re wondering how do you treat swine flu? hopefully this helps.
