My Top Five Favorite Tim Burton Movies

Whether or not you like him, one of the most distinct directors in all of the movie industry is Tim Burton. He has such a unique style, and you can tell a Tim Burton movie from a mile away. Whether it is a comedy, musical or drama, Burton is a director to be reckoned with.

So what have been his best films? Here are what I consider to be his greatest works thus far.

One movie that definitely makes the list is Big Fish. In my opinion, this is without a doubt Burton’s greatest film of all and I have a hard time believing he’ll ever make a movie this good again. It is just a fantastic movie from start to finish and I highly recommend it.

Another movie that is deserving to be on this list is The Nightmare Before Christmas. I’m sure there were films made with a similar “claymation” technique prior to this movie, but none had done it on such a mainstream scale before.

While it wasn’t as good as the original, I thoroughly enjoyed Tim Burton’s remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. At first I wasn’t sure about them casting Johnny Depp as the part of Willy Wonka, but in the end, I think he pulled it off.

I normally am not a fan of musicals, but I thought Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street was a fantastic movie. Only someone like Tim Burton could pull of a musical and horror film at the same time.

Last but not least is Edward Scissorhands. I believe this was the first Tim Burton film I had ever seen, and while it gave me nightmares as a little kid, I can appreciate it in it’s entirety now. As usual, Johnny Depp stars as the peculiar title character.

I hope there is at least one film from the twisted mind of Tim Burton on this list which you have not yet seen. He is truly an incredible director.
