Since I’m a fan of all things cinematic, I enjoy checking out movie blogs whenever I have a chance. With such a wide variety to choose from, however, it’s often difficult to know where to look. As a service to all my fellow cinephiles, I’ve put together a list of some of the best movie blogs currently available. Whether you’re looking for trailers, news, or just the latest box office results, these sites are sure to deliver the goods.
Movie Mom – If you’d like to get a parent’s perspective on movies, be sure to check out this excellent film blog. Not only are movies graded according to how appropriate they are for kids, but actors are profiled, and suggestions are even given for when the children go to bed.
Twitch – Whether you’re looking for movie news, movie trailers, or the latest from film festivals across the globe, Twitch is your one-stop location for all things movie related. One of my favorite segments is called “Twitch Top Kills,” where outlandish and particularly cool death scenes are documented and discussed. Chuck Norris made the list, which gives it instant credibility in my book.
Daily Film Dose – Created by a Toronto-based writer and filmmaker, this blog is updated daily with a movie review. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re into obscure indie films or box-office blockbusters; Daily Film Dose will review them all.
Bad Movie Planet – Sometimes, watching a bad film can be just as entertaining as seeing a good one. That’s where Bad Movie Planet comes in, as they specialize in B-movies, drive-in movies, and anything else that might be considered lowbrow. Not surprisingly, a lot of horror and action movies tend to wind up being discussed.
Slashfilm – A massive movie resource, Slashfilm includes information on casting, remakes, the latest movie news, and plenty of reviews. Comic book and horror fans should also rejoice, as the site seems to pay particular attention to those genres.
Superhero Hype – If you only care about movies involving men and women in tights, then you’ll want to check out this site dedicated to nothing but superhero movies and comic books. All the latest news is included, and it’s a great way to learn about these movies years before they hit theaters.
The Film Talk – Offering both podcasts and posts, the site claims to offer in-depth cinema analysis and interviews from Los Angeles to Belfast. For only $3 per month, you can also become a member and have access to over 100 hours of archive and bonus shows.
The next time you’re searching for a movie blog, be sure to give one from the above list a try. While I didn’t include links to each site, simply typing the name into a search engine should do the trick.
