If a movie franchise works, it always helps in earning big bucks. People obviously love that particular series and long for the next film to release. It also benefits the actors, as they get associated with the particular character that they play.

Hollywood has a lot of successful franchises and the most talked about film in recent times is The Force Awakens. The film is the seventh instalment of the hit franchise, Star Wars. The last film in the series released a decade ago and die-hard fans couldn’t wait for the latest one to hit theaters.

The series is so popular that fans spend big bucks on merchandise. This helps the producers and other manufacturers to make a lot of money on products like light sabers, key chains, mugs and much more.

Coming to the film, it has been directed by George Lucas. The director, who has also given us the Indiana Jones series has previously helmed The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith among other Star Wars films. After the trilogy, Lucas kept talking about how he was keen on making more films in the series but news about The Force Awakens was only confirmed a couple of years ago. A majority of the movie has been shot in the United Kingdom and George wrapped up the shoot, late last year. Since the film needed a lot of pre-production work, it was slated to release a year later. Also, actor Harrison Ford got injured on the sets which resulted in a delay of the shoot.

Apart from Harrison Ford, the film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max von Sydow. With such an ensemble, it is definitely going to work wonders at the box-office.

The plot is said to be set approximately thirty years after Return of the Jedi. Characters of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Kylo Ren, General Leia Organa will be seen amongst many others. The film is made on a mammoth budget but given the buzz around it, recovering the cost won’t be an issue. The film is positioned to take a huge opening and since it is releasing around Christmas, it will attract a lot more crowds. In fact, the film is surely going to break a lot of box-office records. What also helps is that there not many upcoming movies to give it a competition. The next film of the franchise will hit theatres soon.
