Apple Inc, also previously known as Apple Computer Inc, designs and manufactures consumer electronics and software products. The Apple iPod line is one of the company’s infamously known hardware products, among others such as the Macintosh computers. The line was initiated when Apple first introduced the revolutionary iPod digital music player to the world.

However, the revolutionary invention did not stop its pace since its successful introduction. On the contrary, it has improved and expanded its line to satisfy the changing needs of various users. This could be confirmed by the many editions, which signifies improvement of each and every iPod.

The Apple iPod line currently houses four variants, which are the iPod Nano, iPod Classic, iPod Touch and iPod Shuffle. The iPod Classic is hard-drive based while the iPod Touch, like the name itself suggests is using the touchscreen  technology . The iPod Shuffle is compact while the iPod Nano is small but comes with a screen. Except the iPod classic which stores media on an internal hard drive, all other models use flash memory. Due to their large storage capacity, which varies by model, the iPod can serve as external data storage devices. All models have been redesigned multiple times since their initial introduction to improve their functionality and continue to defend the throne as market leader.

Apple’s iTunes software enables users to transfer music from computers to devices using Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows operating systems. iTunes not only serve as a means to transfer music, it also allows transferring of photos, videos, games, contact information, e-mail settings, Web bookmarks and calendars.

With continuing remodeling and enhancement of features, the Apple iPod line has been predicted to continue to be the market leader of portable music players. Now that you have known all these different types of Apple iPod, get yourself the best ones today!
