Zeenat Aman was a beautiful daughter born to a Muslim couple in Mumbai. The early life of Zeenat Aman started on a sad note, as her father passed away when she was 13. This led to her mother involving in a second marriage to a German. Zeenat’s studies were in India and abroad but on her return back to India she pursued a job as a journalist in the ‘Femina’ magazine. Zeenat’s interests later shifted to modeling. Taj Mahal tea and Telivision X were one of the first few brands which she modeled for. Zeenat’s modeling career also led her to win the Miss Asia Pacific in the year 1970.
The victory in the Miss Asia pageant and success in the modeling industry attracted offers for her from the bollywood film industry. Zeenat’s career in the film industry started with a small role from the movie Hulchul by O.P Ralhan. Followed by this she was offered the role of a heroine in the movie and ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ was one among them. A song in the movie earned Zeenat ‘Film fare Best Supporting Actress award’ which led to her role in many of the box office hits.
The late 1970’s was a peak of success for Zeenat by working in banners such as Nasir Hussain, Manmohan Desai and Manoj Kumar. This was a time when all other heroines were into the roles of honest wives and lovers on the screen, Zeenat was different from them by working in unconventional roles. Though her exposure on the screen was more in one of her movies starring Raj Kapoor, it was considered as a piece of art which got her Film Fare Best actress nomination. Zeenat Aman’s success in the movie industry was the roles she played and the unique style of acting which can be termed as a piece of art.
